Facts about CMV/HSV/Syphilis

Five tips to help prevent CMV: do not share food/utensils/drinks, do not put a pacifier in your mouth, avoid contact with saliva when kissing a child, do not share a toothbrush, wash your hands.

CMV is a member of the herpesvirus family, which includes herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2, varicella-zoster virus, and Epstein-Barr virus.

CMV testing should be done within 2-3 weeks of birth to determine if it is congenital.

There are currently no vaccines for CMV.
