Facts about CMV/HSV/Syphilis

A positive test for CMV IgG indicates that a person was infected with CMV at some time during their life but does not indicate when a person was infected.

Young children are a common source of CMV. By the age of 5 years, 1 in 3 children has been infected with CMV but usually does not have symptoms.

CMV infects between 60% and 70% of adults in industrialized countries and nearly 100% in emerging countries.

There are currently no vaccines for CMV.
