About Us

Microgen is a new enterprise that evolved from research and technology development funded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the NIH. Prior to starting Microgen in 2004, Dr. Raymond P. Stowe was involved with research and development of novel technologies for use on Space Station at NASA-JSC from 1990 to 1996. During this time, Dr. Stowe developed several advanced technologies and has since continued his association with NASA as a consultant. Dr. Stowe has also authored over 30 articles and has been both principal investigator and co-investigator on several NASA and NIH grants.

Dr. Stowe's current research interests involve investigating the effects of stress on immunity, and applying this information to determine the risk of viral infections and cancer. Dr. Stowe is also involved in the development of novel assays and products to assess immune function and reactivation of latent viruses during the constraints of spaceflight. Dr. Stowe's experiment was selected as an aging experiment on STS-95 with Senator John Glenn as a participant. Dr. Stowe is currently Principal Investigator of a spaceflight experiment entitled "Spaceflight-Induced Reactivation of Latent Epstein-Barr Virus", which investigates anti-viral immunity and latent herpesvirus reactivation in astronauts.

Each year Microgen introduces many novel products as a result of the combined efforts of our research and development teams, our technology transfer programs and our customers. Your valuable feedback helps us to better serve you today and to address your needs for the future. We thank you for your support and look forward to serving you in the future.

We are currently funded by NASA and NIH (see Grant Support below) and have submitted an NIH Phase I SBIR (small business innovation research) grant.
